November 2022 Meeting Minutes


MIDDLESEX COUNTY FEDERATION OF DEMOCRATIC WOMEN

MEETING OF NOVEMBER 28, 2022

VIA ZOOM

7:30 P.M.

Meeting Minutes

I. D.Venezia opened the meeting and began the meeting leading the Pledge of Allegiance. D. Venezia announced the sad news that D. Ludas had passed away yesterday. A moment of silence followed.


Middlesex County Democratic Organization Chairman Kevin McCabe addressed the meeting and stated that Daria was a great support and was always encouraging and positive. Chairman McCabe stated that Daria Ludas had a great impact on the County and the Democratic Organization.


II. The minutes of the October 24, 202 meeting were presented for approval. Upon motion duly made by Z. Dato, seconded by E. Zirpolo and unanimously approved, the minutes of the meeting of October 24, 2022 were approved.


III. B. Moskowitz reported on the MCDO and stated that a new caucus has been created at the MCDO – the Latino Caucus. B. Moskowitz also shared a new initiative being started to try to increase membership. Each member of the caucus is asked to bring in two new members. The Latino Caucus will be sponsoring a dance event on February 22nd.



IV. D. Rasmussen addressed the meeting and thanked the Federation for their support. D. Rasmussen also noted that former First Lady Lucinda Florio from Metuchen recently passed away.


V. The members discussed honoring Daria Ludas by a donation. Daria’s obituary mentions that a tree can be planted in her honor. Zusette Dato suggested that the MCFDW consider creating a scholarship in Daria’s memory. All present agreed the scholarship was a good idea. Maria Tomaro added that Daria’s interests like politics and writing should be taken into consideration when creating the scholarship.


VI. Upcoming events for the Federation include the Holiday Party to be held on Thursday, December 8th at Ristorante Venezia in Woodbridge. D. Venezia reminded all that toiletries will be collected at the party for Dinah’s Dwelling in New Brunswick. Dinah’s Dwelling is a home for women and children who are the victims of domestic violence.


Hat’s On will be held in April at The Pines.


The next meeting will be held on January 23, 2023. The revised by-laws will be presented at the meeting.


VII. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
